After our workout on Friday, Brian and I decided to try out a new restaurant that opened near us called The Yard House. We had been hearing great things about it, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. When we arrived, the hostess told us there was a 45 minute wait, so we decided to hangout at the bar until a table opened up. It was unbelievable how many different types of beers they had on tap. Here was the view from the seat I was sitting on (mind you this is probably a tenth of the total selection):
I tried the Woodchuck Pear Cider which was fantastic, I highly recommend it. For dinner, I had the New England Clam Chowder and a Greek Salad, both of which are part of their 600 calorie or less menu options.
Saturday, we went to visit my Grandfather on his farm in upstate New York. My parents were running late so Brian and I decided to take a detour at a local apple orchard that I grew up going to. Little did I know that they recently added a beer garden, which served their own hard apple cider as well as other wines and ciders from local wineries. We tried the house cider, which was extremely refreshing:
Once we arrived at my Grandfather’s we spent time with my family, and did some exploring on the farm. My parents brought my dogs up with them and they had a blast running around in the fields. Here are some pictures of the farm, as well as my dog, Mimi, after running around all day (she wouldn’t normally be this well behaved):
Sunday, Brian had his flag football game and afterwards we did our 10K training around a local lake. The workout was the same as Friday‘s, but we added an extra 3 minute interval at the end. It was a beautiful fall day outside, which made the run much more enjoyable. This is where our run ended:
I enjoy running outside so much more than running indoors. My knees actually felt much better than they have been running on the treadmill.
This week Brian will be getting home from work earlier so we’re going to try and incorporate more strength training into our workouts.
How was your weekend?
